Oh, Zion

Alright, alright! The people have spoken. Here is a new post so you don't have to look at the GRASSHOPPERS!

We took our first family trip to Zion National Park! We borrowed Marsha and Randy's tent trailer (THANK YOU!) and loaded the kids and a TON of other stuff and went!

FREEDOM! The kids couldn't WAIT to get out of the car after the LONG car ride.

The night we got there, the kids swam in a little pool that the RV park had. After a pretty traumatic episode of Nathan almost drowning (I even have it on video), we quickly exited the pool. We didn't swim again. I quickly became concerned that this was going to be one of those infamous vacations were everything goes wrong. We have had those before. Luckily, no more major mishaps happened.
This is seconds before "the incident."

The kids slept great that night, and the next day... we entered the park!

To get to any of the hike trails in Zion, you had to take a shuttle bus. I have a pretty good feeling that it was one of my kids' favorite parts of the trip.

Brooklyn was DYING to stand up on the bus like some people did when the bus got too crowded. She begged us to let her do it every time. We finally relented once. She told us that was one of her favorite parts of the trip. I wish we had let her do it more!
Rule breaker..... NO EATING ON THE BUS!
Jacob just liked sitting alone.

It wasn't really Chloe's favorite part however.

The first hike we did was called Angel's Landing. Actually.... replace the word 'did' with 'attempted'. I hiked about half way before Chloe started to FREAK OUT. Robert went up a little further and then turned around when he ran into his friends coming down. He had visions of hiking clear to the top and falling off of the mountain. Oh wait... that was MY vision. Regardless, he was very disappointed. Well.... that's all I will say about that subject. Although I do have more to say. ;D

These are some pictures from the Angel's Landing Hike.

Later that day, after some lunch, we went on a "hike" called Weeping Rock. It was more like a little walk. But it was by far the kids' favorite part! 1400 year old water comes out of the sandstone. It was pretty cool.

Nathan is in this picture. I promise. See if you can find him.

The kids posing for some pictures at the bottom of the hike.

It was a fun hike.

That night we had the dirty little monsters take showers. Chloe took a bath!
Good thing that fat baby fit in the tub!

The next day (after another GREAT night of sleeping kids) we went on another little walk to see a view of Court of the Patriarchs. We got a picture of Jacob, with the mountain Jacob.

The mountain named Jacob is the peak just visible behind the red mountain (named Moroni). The boy named Jacob is standing in the front with his arms folded. Sorry it's sideways. I don't want to take the time to turn it.

Then we went to a museum where Nathan had a freak out session from 3 days in a row with NO NAPS. We watched a movie, and then we went home. The kids were SO good in the car both ways. It makes me think that long car trips are possible with 4 kids.

We had a fun time. We even made it home in time to my BIL Stewart's going away party.

We are excited for Bear Lake in August!!

Looks like a fun trip. Don't you wish you could tire out your children that much every day?

That looks like so much fun! That is the only part your kids will remember anyway!

Great trip! It looks like the kids had a lot of fun (except perhaps Chloe in the family picture :)).

I love Chloe's chubby cheeks--the ones on her face, and the other ones in the tub.

looks like you had a great trip! All that hiking and not even getting to where you want to go. Oh well, at least they enjoyed the bus trip! Kids are a joy, and a learning experience. You never get to do everything. John and I keep saying, We'll do that when our kids are older. Some day, but I'm not wishing it away just yet.
