On Saturday, Jacob was Baptized and confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
About a week before, he read something that his Grandma Haight had wrote him. He read it so fast, that I didn't think he had REALLY read it. So I asked him what it said. He said, "It says we're proud you chose to be baptized. But I didn't even choose." I was a little taken back, and I read to him what his Grandma wrote, which was, "We are very happy you have chosen to be baptized."
I said, "You don't have to be baptized. You get to make that decision." He said, (rather rudely), "But I WANT to be baptized." (I thought "Oooo-kaaay") But I said, "Good. Grandma and Grandpa are happy you CHOSE to be baptized." And then we talked about it a little more about how it was the right decision.
He was SO excited the days before.. and he got dressed in his Sunday clothes without a word of complaint. Lots of family and a few friends came and witnessed his Baptism and confirmation.
After his dad baptized him, he said that he felt really good. He looked so handsome in his suit and seemed so grown up. Then got changed and received the Holy Ghost and a blessing from his Dad. It was very special. His dad gave a very good blessing.
Then we came home and had lots of food for the family, and Jacob got to play and play with his cousins.
In Church on Sunday, during the Sacrament, he tried really hard to think about Jesus. I can tell that he is taking his baptism very seriously.
It was a busy.. frantic day for me... But I am so glad that Jacob is a good sweet boy who wants to choose the right.

Oh that's so sweet! He's such a good boy. On Sunday he said "did you see me in my new suit yesterday?" I said yes and that I thought he looked very handsome in it. You could tell that he thought he did too.
I love that little Jacob. He's a sweetheart
I remember contemplating just lying on my bed for the rest of my life to avoid ruining my clean slate from my baptism. But then I remembered repentance. Where would we be with out that? Oh yeah lying on our beds to avoid any sins.
He's such a wonderful boy. He was so happy on Saturday. The jumping around and not being able to sit still was a giveaway! LOL
That's awesome! It always makes me laugh when kids say, "My parents made me get baptized." I always wanted to, and I think all kids really do. I do like how you did give him the chance to choose! You are good parents!
Oh, and I love how he's about a foot taller than the other kid.
