Yesterday, I had a meeting at the church, and when I got home, I saw Brooklyn riding her bike in a short skirt and sandals (with a brand new long sleeve shirt on her Grandma gave her). I thought, that is a short skirt! I need to remember to hide it the next time I do laundry. Well, short skirts don't provide a lot of protection when you crash on a bike.
5 minutes later, Robert and I heard her crying outside. I went running and saw she had crashed on her bike. The neighbors were all gathered around. A neighbor had just picked her up and was bringing her to me when I got out there. Her chin and knee were bleeding profusely.
After trying to clean it up for a few minutes, Robert and I couldn't tell if her chin needed stitches or not. It looked like a chunk of flesh was missing. Just then my Sis-in-law Ally texted me. Ally is a nurse! So I called Ally and asked her to diagnose Brooklyn on the phone (which I am sure is annoying to anyone in the medical profession). Of course she couldn't tell me if it needed stitches or not, but she said because it was by her face, we should take her in. The funny thing is, I take my kids to the Dr for EVERYTHING so why wouldn't I take her in over this? So I called our Dr's office and we drove to South Jordan.
Thank goodness we took her in because she needed 7 stitches!! She was SO good at the office and they gave her 3 suckers because she was the best patient they had all day. She didn't cry or flinch at all. She did everything they said. She was very brave.

Her first words to me when I saw here were "Grandma, I got seven stitches and it didn't even hurt." So how did she feel this morning?
I'm not looking forward to that part of motherhood! I'm glad she was so brave!
Eli wants to see pictures of the stitches.
NO fun, but thank goodness for Copperview on Sunday!!
It was funny to hear this from the other side of the phone and now to hear it from your side of the phone.
I'm glad brooklyn's okay! Too bad it didn't happen BEFORE church.
South Jordan?? Doesn't Tooele have any such facilities? How primitive is this place? Just kidding, of course. Glad Brooklyn is doing well. I have to smile because the only time we have been to the hospital was with our daughter...never with the boys!
Are you going to blog about how traumatic it was for all of us when she had her stitches taken out? Poor Brooklyn.
I only have 1 child and he has had stitches 3 different times in his 5 years! I know how it is and I feel your pain. I hope Brooklyn is feeling better!
